I started RELIGIOUSLY watching the Gilmore Girls on the first day of fall and during my deep dive I realize a few things about them Gilmore girls.

WHO IS THE VILLAIN OF GILMORE GIRLS AND WHY IS IT MOTHERTRUCKING RORY?!

I could quite literally fill up this entire newsletter with all the reasons why Rory is absolutely the villain and make a strong case why Lorelei is right behind her — which i will and then I’ll dive into the ‘Gilmore girls’ reading challenge I plan to do before 2023 (Rory reads some interesting titles). Let’s unpack shall we.

Because I am a whore for tier ranking “important” (to me) characters I’m not going to stop now.

Breana, why do you find Rory so awful?

I am so glad you asked because I am too ready to let y’all now. I found Rory really pretentious and CONSTANTLY showed her privilege. Who quits Yale on a fucking whim, who sleeps with her exboyfriend whom she low key cheated on with Jess and tells their mom, he was hers first. Baby, that doesn’t even matter. He has a whole wife and you are now the glorified side piece. Rory was also incredibly judge mental about people’s life choices when they didn’t align with hers (funny because she constantly blew up her life and didnt want anyone’s input). I think the way Rory handled her relationships was also sus.

• she was angry at her mom for choosing the life she did - and also hated how her mom treated her relationship with Luke and how that might fuck up her life

• She treated Dean kinda shitty with Tristan (Chad MM character) and then again when Jess entered the scene

  

• She constantlyyyy played games with Jess when he genuinely wanted to love her
